Steps for registering a new business entity in SAM.gov:

  1. Obtain a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) by creating an account on SAM.gov.
  2. Gather required business information, including the Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) or Employer Identification Number (EIN), exact legal business name, physical address, and banking information.
  3. Log into SAM.gov and choose Register/Update Entity.
  4. Complete the core data, representations, and certifications sections using the on-screen prompts.
  5. After validation and submission, the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) automatically generates a CAGE Code, typically within 4–5 business days, and sends it by email.
